Planned Parenthood provides much more than just high-quality reproductive healthcare to SLO county (and beyond) residents.

This course will cover an overview of recent court decisions and advocacy work happening locally from our SLO area Community Organizer, Mariam Shah.

From our SLO area Health Education Coordinator, Kathryn Dickinson, you will receive a full session on the topic of Self-Identity—how our sexual and gender identities form and what common terms are being used today. In addition to receiving an overview of pronouns and why they are important, you will learn how to use them to be an ally to LGBTQ+ folks in our lives.

Kathryn Dickinson is the Health Education Coordinator for Planned Parenthood CA Central Coast (PPCCC) and enjoys teaching sex ed in addition to working on grant reports. She has an MPH in Maternal and Child Health and over 20 years experience working in public health. Mariam Shah is the SLO Community Organizer for PPCCC. Prior to this role she served on the Grover Beach City Council; she is also an attorney licensed in NY, CA and OH.
