The Mediterranean Diet is a way of eating that emphasizes plant-based foods and healthy fats.
There are many definitions of the diet (each with slightly different goals for servings). That’s because the diet focuses on overall eating patterns rather than strict formulas or calculations. It’s also based on eating patterns across many different Mediterranean countries, each with their own nuances. Because there’s no single definition, the Mediterranean Diet is flexible, and you can tailor it to your needs.
Italian Mediterranean Diet Chef Michael Auriemma will explain principles as he gives details on how to apply the diet and tips on the most effective way to get the most out of your cooking and eating experience! He will explain the difference between Mediterranean cooking and the Mediterranean Diet and why the Mediterranean Diet’s importance increases with age?
Michael Auriemma has a double culinary degree and is also a Master Chemist.Born in Italy, Auriemma resides in California. He is in love with food, wine, cooking and travels. Fond of healthy cuisine, he conducts the Italian Mediterranean Diet seminar at Cuesta College where he shares his deep Italian culture and knowledge. He is committed to achieving the “Zero food waste” goal. Auriemma passionately believes that what we eat, drink, and do are the keys for us to live a better, longer and larger life!
