When the conversation begins about the possible division of California, the mind travels to a state divided between the northern and southern portions. Ed Cabrera will present the idea that a separation already exists and it is one contrasting the values of the eastern and western populations and, consequently, the wide gulf between the urban and rural areas of the Golden State.

You will learn about the secession movements of Northern California and about the clamoring for attention from Southern California constituents who believe that their voices are not being heard.

As Ed always does, there will be many connections made to the issues in the headlines today such as the culture wars over immigration, critical race theory and the integrity of elections.

Through the use of charts, graphs and video, Ed will be spotlighting a number of cases that best represent how this state is more divergent than the rest of the country realizes.

Ed Cabrera has taught at Atascadero High School and, before that, at Perris High School (in Southern California). He also coached numerous sports and advised even more clubs in his career spanning 4 decades.
