With the anti-Semitism, demonstrations and violence in the USA, Ukraine and Gaza going on, it is desirable to present a documentary and musical that puts these events in perspective. The Broadway musical and movie, “Fiddler on the Roof” , serves that purpose. The movie is a moving portrayal of the Jewish life and traditions surrounding a small village in Ukraine which is pillaged by Russian soldiers in 1905. In the end the villagers are forced to leave and become refugees.

The documentary, “A Miracle of Miracles” offers the background and adds profound insight into the historical and cultural movements that inspired “Fiddler on the Roof” as well as its enduring appeal around the world.

The instructor will bring the two together in two separate sessions to provide a deeper understanding and appreciation for this cultural treasure.
