Caffeine is by far the world's most popular psychoactive drug. Most of us indulge; some of us crave. First, chocolate, coffee, and tea got us hooked; they were followed by colas, pills, and energy drinks. Caffeinated beverages are the only addictive commercial products that are regulated nowhere and available everywhere—without prescription or proof of age.  This course will explore the many surprising ways that caffeine has connected our chemistry, our culture, and our commerce.
