The Israel-Hamas War dominates the headlines and weighs heavy on the hearts of many Americans, yet its historical context and immediate causes are less understood by most Americans. This course will introduce the historical background to conflict as well as the most vexing dilemmas that have led it to continue for more than a century. Then, we will focus on October 7th and the subsequent war, analyzing its causes and the scenarios for lasting peace.
Cal Poly Professor Stephen Lloyd-Moffett has proven to be one of our most captivating presenters so we expect a large audience for this most timely of courses. You will want to join us in our new venue at the Unitarian Universalists Church in San Luis Obispo.

Dr. Lloyd-Moffett is a professor of Religious Studies with a specialty in the Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and has taught a course at Cal Poly on Religion and Politics in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict since 2007.
