Worried about your health and safety? Lonely? Having money issues or concerned about rising housing prices? Anne Wyatt, Executive Director of Smart Share Housing Solutions, is here to help with “out-of-the-box” thinking and resources.

Home-sharing may appeal to you—either renting one of your rooms or renting one from somebody else. Wyatt will explain the stringent vetting process involved. Another option is to build an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in your backyard or perhaps your family’s. Find out the assistance that’s available to you. A third option is co-living developments.

After an introduction held at Odd Fellows, the class will walk next door to 466 Dana St. to tour a 176-square feet model small home. The staff will also be on site to guide us through the historic Rosa Butron de Canet Adobe, which, at one point, rented rooms to women.

The adobe will be the centerpiece of Waterman Village, a joint affordable housing project with Smart Share and the city of San Luis Obispo, which would turn the historic property near the San Luis Obispo Children’s Museum into 20 units of affordable tiny homes.

Class will be held at a time yet to be determined

Anne Wyatt, Executive Director of Smart Share Housing Solutions, is a housing policy planner interested in affordable and sustainable housing. She is a County of San Luis Obispo Planning Commissioner and sits on several non-profit boards, including Friends of the Bob Jones Trail.
